How to fix a Scratched Driver Head?

How to fix a scratching depends on where the scratches are. Minor scratches on the clubface can be removed by cleaning it effectively. If the scratches are deep you need to fix them.

If you don’t want to take your scratched clubs to a pro shop for refinishing, you may fix tiny scratches on your own, just as you would do on your automobile.

The painted areas of clubs are their heads which get scratched as you hit hard or bad shot. Here are some phases below for removing scratches from painted club areas.

Phase 1:

Take a cloth that is bathed with soapy water and clean the driver’s clubhead. Use a firm plastic brush to clean the scratched areas thoroughly. Now dry the clubhead with a dry and clean cloth.

Phase 2:

Tape the scratched areas using painter’s tape. 1/8 inch of space should be left around the scratches.

Phase 3:

Mix the paint by following the manufacturer’s directions, then brush or spray it on the scratches in a single direction. Apply the first layer and then move to the second layer when the first layer becomes dry.

Phase 4:

Now it’s time to fill the areas with sand. Fill the painted areas with sand smoothly and gently. Use the 600 girth sandpaper that should be soaked in water for 15 minutes. Then remove the residue with a towel.

Unpainted Club Areas:

Phase 1:

Clean the bottom of the clubhead which is called the sole of the golf club. The method is the same as painted areas. You have to take the cloth dipped with soapy water. Clean the bottom area with that cloth.  Remove leftover dirt from the scratched areas using a brush or clean cloth.

Phase 2:

If the scratches are minor then use the 220 grit sandpaper that should be wet in water for 15 minutes. But if the scratches are deeper then use a rotary sander and the 400 grit sandpaper.

Getting Rid of Sky Marks on a Golf Club:

Sky marks are scratches that occur on the top of the driver as a result of unusual strikes. Such shots are infuriating, and it’ll be even more irritating if you afterward check your club and see that is damaged.

One of the simplest ways to remove scratches from your golf clubs is to polish them. Polishing is not only important for eliminating scratches but also for prevents rusting in golf clubs

When you need to erase scratches that aren’t too deep, polishing might be a good choice. Make sure you’re using the correct polish for the job.

You need a piece of cloth and a metal polish to get started. If the metal polish isn’t available, you may use vehicle wheel polish instead of metal polish.

The following are some steps you need to know to make polishing effective.

Step 1

  • Squeeze a tiny quantity of polish onto the cloth and gently rub it into the metal portions of the club. The coating should be thin and even throughout.
